Credit Report
Author: Unknown
Source: Internet
|
|
If my life was a credit report and I was trying to obtain salvation, based on my score, I wouldn't get it.
My history shows that I have been delinquent in praise, past due in prayer, my worship has been in collections and I have missed a few payments (tithes) or only paid half (you know how we put $20 in the basket and feel like we've done God a favor.)
Not to mention that my debt (sin) to income (blessings) ratio is too high.
BUT, I thank God that I was able to file bankruptcy (repentance) and it cleared me of all of my debt (sin). Now I have a co-signer (Jesus) whose score is flawless... Not one blemish (sin) on his report.
So now, I QUALIFY for EVERYTHING! Most importantly, I've inherited eternal life and I didn't have to put one penny down.
All of my closing costs were covered when Jesus laid down His life for me. I hear that my future home has all of the upgrades too.
Hardwood floors? Please !! I'll be walking on gold!
Thank You Lord for your unmerited mercy, grace and favor.

One day, a
poor boy was selling clothing door to
door to pay for his education realized
that he only had ten cents left in his
pockets. He was hungry and so
decided to ask for some food at the next
house that he came to.
In the
meantime, he lost his hunger when a
beautiful young woman opened the door.
Instead of a meal, he asked her for a
glass of water. She saw that he
was very hungry, so instead brought a
huge glass of milk.
He drank
it very slowly and then asked:
"How much do I owe you?"
"You do
not owe me anything at all," she
replied. "My mother taught us
never to accept anything for doing
someone a kindness." .......

I Asked
God
Author:

I asked God to take
away my pain.
God said:
No! It is not for me to take away,
but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make
my handicapped child whole.
God said:
No! Her spirit is whole and her
body is only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience.
God said:
No! Patience is a by-product of
tribulations; it isn't granted, it is
earned. |
I asked God to give
me happiness.
God said:
No! I give you blessings.
Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to
spare me pain.
God said:
No! Suffering draws you apart from
worldly cares and bring you close to me.
I asked God to
make my spirit grow.
God said:
No! You must grow on your own, but
I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked for all
things that I might enjoy life.
God said:
No! I will give you life so that
you may enjoy all things.
I asked God to
help me LOVE others, as much as He loves
me.
God said: Ah! Finally you have the
idea. |
Verses to Meditate:* And
now these three remain: faith,
hope and love. But the greatest of
these is LOVE (I

in a single command: "Love your
neighbor as yourself"

The Wisdom In Hot Chocolate

A group of
graduates, well established in their
careers, were talking at a reunion and
decided to go visit their old university
professor, now retired.
During
their visit, the conversation turned to
complaints about stress in their work
and lives. Offering his guests hot
chocolate, the professor went into the
kitchen and returned with a large pot of
hot chocolate and an assortment of cups
- porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain
looking, some expensive, some exquisite.
He then told them all to help themselves
to the hot chocolate.

A Butterfly's Lesson
Author: Unknown
Source: Internet
|
|

|
One day, a small opening appeared in a
cocoon; a man sat and watched for the
butterfly for several hours as it
struggled to force its body through that
little hole. It appeared as if it
had gotten as far as it could and it
could not go any further. Then, it
seems to stop making any progress.
So the man decided to help the
butterfly: he took a pair of
scissors and opened the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily; but
it had a withered body, it was tiny and
shriveled wings.
The man continued to watch because he
expected that, at any moment, the wings
would open, enlarge and expand, to be
able to support the butterfly's body,
and become firm. Neither happened
! In fact, the butterfly spent the
rest of its life crawling around with a
withered body and shriveled wings.
It never was be able to fly. |
|
What a man, in his kindness and his
goodwill did not understand was that the
restricting cocoon and the struggle
required for the butterfly to get
through the tiny opening, were God's way
of forcing fluid from the body of the
butterfly into its wings, so that it
could be ready for flight once it
achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes, struggles are exactly what we
need in our life. If God allowed
us to go through our life without any
obstacles, it would cripple us. We
would not be as strong as we could have
been. Never been able to fly.
I asked for Strength ... and God gave me
difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom ... and God gave me
problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity ... and God gave
me a brain and brawn to work.
I asked for Courage ... and God gave me
obstacles to overcome.
I asked for Love ... and God gave me
troubled people to help.
I asked for Favors ... and God gave me
opportunities.
"I received nothing I wanted ... but I
received everything I needed."
Live life without fear, confront all
obstacles, and know that you can
overcome them.

An Old Soldier's Prayer
Author: General
Douglas A. McArthur
Forwarded: Phuong

Build me a son, O Lord, who will
be strong enough to know when he
is weak, and brave enough to
face himself when he is afraid;
one who will be proud and
unbending in honest defeat, and
humble and gentle in victory.
Build me a son whose wishes will
not take the place of deeds, a
son who will know Thee .... and
that to know himself is the
foundation stone of knowledge.
Build me a son whose heart will
be clear, whose goal will be
high, a son who will master
himself before he seeks to
master other men; one who will
reach into the future, yet never
forget the past.
And after all these things are
his, add, I pray, enough of a
sense of humor, so that he may
always be serious, yet never
take himself too seriously.
Give him humility, so that he
may always remember the
simplicity of true greatness,
the open mind of true wisdom and
the meekness of true strength.
Then, I, his father, will dare
to whisper, I have not lived in
vain.

The year
was 1820 and Peter Richley was a
grateful man. He had survived one
of the strangest and most harrowing
events known to mankind. The ship
which he has been traveling on sank.
He was rescued. By some twist of
circumstance; however, this second ship
also sank. He was rescued
again. But this 3rd ship sank
likewise. He was rescued for a
third time. Yet, his fourth ship
of passage soon sank. And
unbelievably, he was rescued for a
fourth time, but this fifth ship sank as
well.
It would
have been a laughable had it not been so
serious. On the high seas,
however, he floated serene that somehow
God did not want him to die. And
sure enough, as it on cue, another ship
came by and answered his call for help. |
 |
|
The
ocean-liner, "The City of Leeds", was
named after it's British city of origin.
It was bound from England to Australia
and traveled the same sea lane as Peter
Richley's downed ships. The crew
of the City of Leeds hoisted Peter
aboard. Dry clothing was provided
to Peter. The ship's doctor gave
him a cursory exam, and pronounced him
fit, and then ask an unusual favor.
"There's
a lady onboard who booked passage to
Australia," the doctor explained.
"She's looking for her son who
disappeared years ago. She's dying
and she's asking to see her son.
She knows everybody onboard and since
you're the only newcomer, would you
pretend to be her son?"
Peter
agreed. After all, his life had
now been saved for the 5th time.
He followed the doctor below deck and
entered into a cabin. There on a
small bed lay a frail woman with
silvered hair. She was obviously
suffering from a high fever.
Deliriously, she was crying out, "Please
GOD, let me see my son before I die.
I must see my son!"
The
ship's doctor gently pushed the young
man toward the bed. Soon, however,
Peter Richley began sobbing. For
lying there on that bed was the reason
he couldn't seem to die. Here was
the lifeline that had kept him from
drowning 5 times. For lying on
that bed was none other than Sarah
Richley, who had prayed for 10 years to
be reconciled to her son, Peter.
The
ship's doctor stood in amazement as the
young man fell down by the bed and
embraced the sick woman. "I am
here mom! I am here. It's
me!" Within days, the fever had
subsided and his mother awakened to find
an answered prayer seated on the edge of
her bed.
(This
story was told by western writer Louis
L"Amour in an interview he gave.
This story bears out the saying: "Truth
is stranger than fiction." In
researching the Louis L'Amour website,
there were additional references that
bear out this story to a truth story.) |

A Date With Mom
Author: Unknown
Source: Internet |
|
 |
The other
woman that my wife wanted me to visit
was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for
19 years, but the demands of my work and
my three children had made it possible
to visit her only occasionally. That
night, I called to invite her to go out
for dinner and a movie.
"What's
wrong, are you well", she asked?
My mother is the type of woman who
suspects that a late night call or a
surprise invitation is a sign of bad
news. |
|
"I though
that it would be pleasure with you", I
responded - "just the two of us".
She thought about it for a moment and
then said: "I would like that very
much."
That
Friday after work, as I drove over to
pick her up I was a bit nervous.
When I arrived at her house, I noticed
that she, too, seemed to be nervous
about our date. She waited in the
door with her coat on. She had
curled her hair and was wearing the
dress that she had worn to celebrate her
last wedding anniversary. She
smiled from a face that was as radiant
as an angel's. "I told my friends
that I was going to go out with my son,
and they were impressed," she said, as
she got into the car. "They can't
wait to hear about our meeting."
We went
to a restaurant that, although not
elegant, was very nice and cozy.
My mother took my arm as if she were the
First Lady. After we sat down, I
had to read the menu. Large print.
Half way through the entries, I lifted
my eyes and saw Mom sitting there
staring at me. A nostalgic smile
was on her lips. "It was I who
used to have to read the menu when you
were small," she said. -
"Then it's time that you relax and let
me return the favor," I responded.
During
the dinner, we had an agreeable
conversation - nothing extraordinary,
but catching up on recent events of each
other's life. We talked so much
that we missed the movie. As we
arrived at her house later, she said: "I
will out with you again, but only if you
let me invite you." I agreed.
"How was
your dinner date?" asked my wife when I
got home. "Very nice. Much
more so than I could have imagined," I
answered. |
|
A few
days later, my mother died of a massive
heart attach. It happened so
suddenly that I did not do anything for
her.
Sometime
later, I received an envelope with a
copy of a restaurant receipt from the
same place mother and I had dined.
An attached note said: "I paid this bill
in advance. I wasn't sure that I
could be there; but nevertheless, I paid
for two plates - one for you and the
other for your wife. You will
never know what that night meant for me.
I love you, son." |
 |
|
At that moment,
I understood the importance of saying in
time: "I LOVE YOU" and to give our loved
ones the time that they deserve.
nothing in life is more important than
God and your family. Give them the
time they deserve, because these things
cannot be put off till "some other
time". |

The Window

A young
couple moves into a new neighborhood.
The next morning, while they are eating
the breakfast, the young woman sees her
neighbor hang the wash outside.
"That laundry is not very clean", she
said, "she (the neighbor) doesn't know
how to wash correctly. Perhaps she
needs better laundry soap." Her
husband looked on, but remained silent.
Every
time her neighbor would hang her wash to
dry, the young woman would make the same
comments. |
|
About one
month later, the young woman was
surprised to see a nice clean wash
on the line and said to her husband:
"Look! She has learned how to wash
correctly. I wonder who taught her
this." The husband said: "I got up
early this morning and cleaned our
windows!"
And so it
is with live: "What we see when
watching others, depends on the purity
of the window through which we look.
Before we
give any criticism, it might a good idea
to check our state of mind and ask
ourselves if we are ready to see the
good rather than to be looking for
something in the person we are about to
judge."
And oh
yes! I almost forgot ... I see you
today much clearer than I did
yesterday... And you? |

Story of Appreciation
Author: Unknown
Source: from Internet
|
One
young academically excellent person
went to apply for a managerial
position in a big company. He
passed the first interview. The
director did the last interview,
made the last decision. He
discovered from the CV that the
youth’s academic result was
excellent all the way, from
secondary school until the
postgraduate research, not a year
did he not score.
-
The director asked, “Did you obtain
any scholarship in school?” and the
youth answered, “None.” -
The director asked, “Was it your
father who paid your school fees?”
The youth answered, “My father
passed away when I was one year old,
it is my mother who paid my school
fees. ”
- The director asked, ” Where
did your mother work?” -
The youth answered, “My mother
worked as a clothes washer.” The
director requested the youth to show
his hands, and the youth showed the
director a pair of hands that were
smooth and perfect.
-
The director asked, ” Did you ever
help your mother wash the clothes?”
- The youth answered, “Never,
my mother always wanted me to study
and read more books; furthermore, my
mother can wash clothes faster than
I can.”
-
The director said, “I have a
request; when you go back today, go
and help to clean your mother’s
hands, and then see me tomorrow
morning.”
The
youth felt that as the chances of
landing the job were high, when he
went home, he happily wanted to
clean his mother’s hands. His mother
felt strange, happy but mixed with
fear, she showed her hands to the
youth.
|
The
youth cleaned his mother’s hands
slowly, his tears dropped down as he
did that. It was the first time he
found his mother’s hands so
wrinkled, and there were so many
bruises on her hands. Some bruises
incited pains so strong that made
his mother’s body shiver when
cleaned with water. This was the
first time the youth realized and
experienced that it was this pair of
hands that washed clothes every day
to earn him the school fees. The
bruises on the mother’s hands was
the price that the mother paid for
his graduation and academic
excellence and probably his future.
After finishing the cleaning of his
mother’s hands, the youth quietly
cleaned all the remaining clothes
for his mother. That night, mother
and son talked for a very long time.
|
 |
Next
morning, the youth went to the
director’s office. The director
noticed the tear in the youth’s eye,
and asked: “Can you tell me what you
have done and learned yesterday in
your house?” - The youth
answered, “I cleaned my mother’s
hands, and also finished cleaning
all the remaining clothes.”
-
The
director asked, “Please tell me your
feelings.” - The youth
said: "Number one, I knew what was
appreciation; without my mother,
there would not a successful me
today. Number two, I knew how
to work together with my mother,
then only I could realize how
difficult and tough it is to get
something done. Number three,
I knew the importance and value of
family relationships.
-
The director said, “This is what I
am asking; I want to recruit a
person who can appreciate the help
of others, a person who knows the
suffering of others to get things
done, and a person who would not put
money as his only goal in life to be
my manager. You are hired.”
Later on, this young person worked
very hard and received the respect
of his subordinates; every employee
worked diligently and in a team, so
that the company’s results improved
tremendously.

 |
A
child who has been protected and
habitually given whatever he wanted
develops “entitlement mentality” and
always put himself first. He is
ignorant of his parents’ efforts.
When
he starts work, he assumes every one
must listen to him, and when he
becomes a manager, he can never know
the sufferings of his employees and
always blame others.
|
For
this kind of people, who may be good
academically, may be successful for
a while, but eventually would not
feel sense of achievement. He will
grumble and be full of hatred and
fight for more. If we are this kind
of protective parents, are we really
showing love or are we destroying
the kid instead?
You
can let your kid live in a big
house, eat a good meal, learn piano,
watch a big screen TV. But when you
are cutting grass, please let them
experience it. After a meal, let
them wash their plate and bowl
together with their brothers and
sisters. It is not because you do
not have money to hire a maid, but
it is because you want to love them
in a right way. You want them to
understand, no matter how rich their
parents are, one day their hair will
grow grey, same as the mother of
that young person.
The
most important thing is that your
kid must learn how to appreciate the
efforts and experience the
difficulties and learn the ability
to work with others to get things
done.
